'Thangalaan' is a star-studded action-adventure film
Per BookMyShow, there are no watch options available for the film currently, so the reason behind its OTT debut delay is not clear. Thangalaan, translated as Son of Gold, is an action-adventure film directed by Pa Ranjith. The screenplay was co-written by Ranjith, Tamil Prabha, and Azhagiya Periyavan. Produced by Studio Green and Neelam Productions by KE Gnanavel Raja, the film features an impressive cast including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, and Hari Krishnan alongside Vikram—who essays five roles—and Mohanan.
'Thangalaan' plot and box office performance
Set in the British Raj era, Thangalaan tells the story of a brave tribal leader who embarks on a dangerous mission to stop an alleged sorceress. This conflict arises after he assists a British general in finding gold in their village. Despite its intriguing storyline and star-studded cast, the film underperformed at the box office, grossing only ₹68cr against a hefty budget of ₹150cr. Once additional costs were accounted for, it faced an estimated deficit of over ₹105cr.
