After re-censor, Vijay's 'GOAT' is now 3 hours long!
Thalapathy Vijay's much-anticipated film, The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), has reportedly undergone a second round of censorship recently ahead of its release. This development came after the film had already received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The reason for this re-censorship is said to be the addition of extra footage to the film. Here are more details on this.
'GOAT' now has a runtime of 3 hours, 3 minutes
According to reports, the makers of GOAT have added a three-minute-long video at the end credits. This new footage is believed to feature bloopers from the film's production. With this addition, the movie's runtime has been extended to three hours and three minutes. This makes it the second longest film in Vijay's career, after the 2012 film Nanban, which had a duration of three hours and eight minutes.
Censorship details and changes in the film
Vijay's upcoming movie was previously issued a U/A certificate by the CBFC. The term "Desa Thandhai" (Father of the Nation) and certain expletives like 'I**tha', 'F**k', 'Baadu' and 'M**iru' were asked to be muted by the CBFC, according to Bollywood Hungama. As per the censor certificate, three seconds of footage were removed while two seconds were replaced. It remains to be seen how theaters in Tamil Nadu will accommodate the film with its extended runtime.
'GOAT' plot, cast, and crew details
In a recent interview, director Venkat Prabhu revealed that GOAT centers around a fictional anti-terrorist wing of RAW called SATS. The story follows the team's former members reuniting to combat a major threat. Vijay portrays the team's most skilled agent. The film also stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, and Ajmal Ameer as his teammates. Sneha and Meenakshi Chaudhary play the love interests of Vijay's characters.
Advance ticket bookings for 'GOAT' to open soon
The advance ticket bookings for GOAT in Tamil Nadu and the rest of the states will commence on Friday (August 30). Early morning shows for the film in neighboring states are scheduled to start as early as 4:00am, reportedly. Given that this is Vijay's 68th film, there is considerable excitement around his collaboration with director Venkat Prabhu. This multi-language epic is set to hit theaters on September 5.
