Hyderabad: Tollywood actress strips on road to protest against casting-couch
Tollywood actress Sri Reddy stripped at the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Reddy alleged she was not given fair chance to work in the film industry and was sexually exploited by producers and directors. She was dressed in a salwar-kameez, but later removed the clothes one by one. She was detained by police when she removed her shirt.
Protesting actress seeks work in industry
Apparently, Sri Reddy was asked by producers for inappropriate pictures
Sri Reddy threatened to expose producers and directors who asked her to send inappropriate pictures. She said, "Why Telugu actors like me don't get a chance. They should give 75% chances to Telugu people in films. I want membership in Telugu film chamber. Why are they not giving it? I have done three films." Notably, Movie Artistes Association had denied her membership.
This is what she had to say
"This is the only way I can think of expressing my grief. If I have shown myself nude to several people in the film industry and despite that have got no roles, the only way I can protest is by going nude publicly," she said.
Sri Reddy earlier alleged popular director molested her
Earlier this week, Sri Reddy wrote a Facebook post levelling sexual assault allegations against popular director Sekhar Kammula. Along with denying the allegations, Kammula said he would sue her with criminal charges for maligning his image. She said she wanted to meet CM Chandrashekhar Rao to talk about casting couch and threatened to stage a nude protest if he didn't listen. Well, she did!
