Television actress Shilpa Shinde, who won popular reality show Bigg Boss 11 last year, joined Congress today. She joined the political party in the presence of Maharashtra Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam. According to media reports, Shilpa is likely to contest for the party at the upcoming Assembly elections. For the uninitiated, Shilpa made her debut on television in 1999. However, she got her share of fame with & TV's popular sitcom Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain. Her performance as Angoori Bhabhi was loved by the audience. Notably, her exit from the show was quite controversial and made her the talk of the town. Shilpa was eventually replaced by Shubhangi Atre.
Shilpa wants to serve people, so she joined politics
Post her stint on the reality show Bigg Boss 11, Shilpa was missing from the small screen. Though she was offered several shows, she turned down all of them. Apparently, politics was on Shilpa's mind for a long time. "What has attracted Shilpa Shinde to politics might be her desire to do something for the people," a source reportedly told Spotboye.
