What's the story
Pop music sensation Taylor Swift is reportedly planning major renovations to her Rhode Island mansion following recent wedding speculations with her boyfriend-NFL player, Travis Kelce.
The proposed changes to her $17.75 million holiday home include an additional wing with more bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a kitchen makeover.
Per a permit obtained by The Providence Journal, the renovation costs could reach up to $1.7 million.

Remodeling the kitchen, adding rooms: Renovation plans
The singer's $1.7 million renovation plans include transforming one of the 11,000-square-foot property's existing bedrooms into a larger bedroom suite with a lounge.
She also plans to add a new bedroom to the mansion, which is locally known as either "High Watch" or "Holiday House."
Additionally, the kitchen will undergo a remodel.
While the exact start date for construction on the estate remains unknown, the building plans were drafted in November, with the permit set to expire in December 2025.
Wedding whispers
Kelce's podcast discussion fueled wedding rumors
Notably, Swift's mansion renovations come just days after her boyfriend dropped wedding hints.
On an episode of his popular podcast New Heights, co-hosted with his brother Jason, Kelce weighed the pros and cons of a fall wedding.
"I don't know many people who get married in the fall," he said, adding anniversaries might be overshadowed if they coincide with major football games.
Swift and Kelce have been dating for more than 15 months—going public with their relationship in September 2023.

Swift's connection to the mansion's previous owner
In the song The Last Great American Dynasty, Swift paid tribute to socialite Rebecca Harkness, who used to live in her Rhode Island home.
"Her name was Rebekah Harkness. And she lived in the house that I ended up buying in Rhode Island. That's how I learned about her," the 35-year-old singer told Rolling Stone.
"But she was a woman who was very, very talked about, and everything she did was scandalous. I found a connection in that."
