'Groomed me as sex-slave....': Sowmya accuses Tamil director of rape
In the wake of the ongoing Hema Committee report and #MeToo revelations in the Malayalam industry, actor Sujatha, known by her screen name Sowmya, has come forward with alarming allegations. She claims that at the tender age of 18, she was groomed to be a "sex slave" by a prominent Tamil filmmaker. The actor made these shocking revelations during an interview with NDTV but refrained from naming the accused director.
Sowmya recounted initial encounter with Tamil director
Sowmya disclosed that her entry into the film industry was facilitated by connections she made through her college theater group. It was during this time that the unnamed Tamil director approached her father to cast her in a film. Despite feeling uncomfortable from their first meeting, Sowmya felt obligated to work with him due to the significant amount of money he had invested in casting her for the role.
Sowmya details disturbing incidents at director's home
The actor shared that the director and his wife would invite her to their home, where they would treat her with food and milkshakes. However, one day, when his wife was absent, the director kissed Sowmya while referring to her as his daughter. She felt frozen and ashamed, thinking she had done something wrong and felt obligated to be nice to him. Despite this incident, she continued visiting his house for film rehearsals.
Sowmya revealed director's manipulative behavior
Sowmya further revealed, "He completely used my body to his advantage, and eventually, he raped me. This continued for almost a year while I was still in college." During this time, the director frequently referred to her as his "daughter," while unsettlingly expressing a wish to have a child with her. Adding to it, she said, the director even inserted a rod into her genitals for her entertainment. "He messed with my mind," she added.
