Taapsee Pannu might lead Subhash Ghai's 'Aitraaz 2': Report
What's the story
Acclaimed actor Taapsee Pannu is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming film Aitraaz 2, produced by Subhash Ghai and directed by Amit Rai.
Last November, Ghai announced the film, revealing that he had been developing a new story for three years.
A source close to the production told India Today Digital that while Pannu hasn't officially signed on yet, she has shown interest in the script.
Anticipation building
Pannu's potential involvement in 'Aitraaz 2' sparks excitement
The source told the portal, "From what we hear, Taapsee has been given a script reading for Aitraaz 2, but there's no confirmation on her end or from the production team yet."
"Right now, it's all speculation, but if she does come on board, it will be exciting to watch."
Currently, Pannu is busy shooting for her action film Gandhari. This Netflix project marks the sixth collaboration between Kanika Dhillon and Pannu after successful movies like Manmarziyaan and Haseen Dillruba.
Legacy continuation
'Aitraaz 2' to continue the legacy of strong female characters
The original Aitraaz, which was released in 2004, had Priyanka Chopra Jonas in a path-breaking role of a femme fatale.
It was a stark contrast to the usual depiction of women as perfect wives and lovers in films. Ghai had once lauded Chopra Jonas for her courage to take on such a difficult role.
Now, it seems Pannu may carry forward the legacy of fierce women with Aitraaz 2.

Meanwhile, revisit the original 'Aitraaz'
The 2004 Aitraaz was a thriller that featured a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The film revolves around a corporate sexual harassment case where Chopra Jonas plays the role of Sonia Roy, a powerful and manipulative woman who accuses her former lover, played by Kumar, of harassment after he rejects her advances.
The film explores themes of power, obsession, and revenge, with Chopra Jonas's performance being widely praised for its complexity and boldness.
