Taapsee responds to Kangana's sister Rangoli's 'sasti copy' comment
Taapsee Pannu has finally responded to Kangana Ranaut's sister-cum-manager Rangoli Chandel's sasti copy comment. To recall, earlier this month, Rangoli had tweeted, "Last I heard Taapsee said Kangana needs a double filter and Tapsee you need to stop being a sasti copy." To this the Mission Mangal actress retorted, "Kangana claims to be the highest-paid actress, so I guess I am the "sasti" version."
This is the tweet where Rangoli had made the comment
I look up to Kangana as an actor, clarifies Taapsee
During her recent interaction with Mumbai Mirror, Taapsee clarified her "double filter" statement, and explained that she said "it in a positive manner." "We are both opinionated and speak our mind which is a good thing except that sometimes it lands us in trouble. In fact, I have often said Kangana's an actor I look to, my conscience is clear," the actress said.
Taapsee's reply to 'sasti copy' remark is bang on
On Rangoli's remark, Taapsee interestingly said that she wasn't aware that "there was a copyright on curly hair," which she was born with. "I didn't know there was a copyright on curly hair, and honest opinions. I'm not going to apologize for it. As far as being sasti is concerned, Kangana claims to be the highest-paid, so I guess I am the sasti version."
When Anurag defended Taapsee, Rangoli asked him to "back off"
Before Taapsee reacted to Rangoli's comment, it was noted director Anurag Kashyap who had defended the former. "Come on Rangoli.. this is going too far.. this is really really desperate," he said, adding, "praising the trailer means praising all aspects. Which includes Kangana." Rangoli of course didn't respond well, and asked Anurag to "back off" and "don't get desperate without understanding the real issue."
I wouldn't be able to match their language, actress says
On Anurag defending her, Taapsee stated not just him, other celebrities also wanted to support her. However, she refrained them as she "did not want to give her any mileage". "She can't play the nepotism card with me because I've also struggled to reach where I'm today. I didn't want to engage in word battle because I wouldn't be able to match their language."
For now, Taapsee's hands are full with some interesting projects
On the work front, Taapsee is looking forward to the release of Misson Mangal and Saand Ki Aankh. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old also has four releases in the coming year. "I'll have four releases next year too. I'm doing a Tamil film now, then I'll start Anubhav Sinha's next, followed by Anurag Kashyap's," Taapsee added. She is also in talks for cricketer Mithali Raj's biopic.
