T-Series V/s PewDiePie: Indian music label finally wins the race
Finally, India's famous music label T-Series has won the 'battle of subscribers' against popular YouTuber Felix Kjellberg, aka PewDiePie. The two channels were locked in a race for the most number of subscribers for months, but just recently, the T-Series overtook Kjellberg and established a considerable lead. Now, it is the biggest channel on YouTube. Here are the details.
T-Series leading in terms of subscriber count
After coming close and falling back several times, T-Series has now managed a lead of more than 30,000 subscribers over PewDiePie. At the time of writing, the entertainment channel had 90.53 million subscribers, while the PewDiePie was following closely with 90.50 million. Notably, the former has gained over 58 million subscribers since the start of 2018, challenging PewDiePie's huge fan base.
T-Series' rapid growth from music videos, trailers
T-Series, which has been operating in Indian since decades, joined YouTube in the year 2006. Since then, the channel has been posting Bollywood music videos and movie trailers, raking followers from all across India. Every day, 4-6 high-quality videos (much more than PewDiePie), including regional content, are shared on the T-Series channel, with the total video count being more than 13,000.
PewDiePie came way after T-Series, but has been dominating
Felix Kjellberg started the PewDiePie channel almost four years after T-Series but has been dominating the game persistently. Initially, he used to post horror video game clips and the reactions but then branched into other categories, including vlogs, commentary and comedy videos. The YouTuber also ran into some controversies, but his channel kept growing, dominating as YouTube's most subscribed since 2013.
Notably, T-Series is also YouTube's most viewed channel
Though PieDiePie and T-Series have been going neck to neck for a while now, the music label dominates proudly as the most viewed YouTube channel. According to SocialBlade numbers, it has got more than 65 billion views, while Kjellberg's channel has some 20 billion.
Now, PewDiePie will try to catch up
As the race continues, T-Series will look to extend its lead, while PewDiePie will opt for ways to catch up. Both parties have been calling on people to subscribe to their channels lately. PieDiePie streamed Fortnite to rake more followers last month, while T-Series has garnered the backing of famous celebrities, including Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, and John Abraham.
