'Kanguva': Suriya's fantasy actioner postponed; here's why
Tamil actor Suriya has announced that the release of his upcoming film Kanguva will be postponed to avoid a box-office clash with superstar Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan. The announcement was made during the audio launch of his brother Karthi's film Meiyazhagan in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Both Kanguva and Vettaiyan were initially set to release on October 10.
'Rajinikanth has been Tamil cinema's identity for 50 years'
Suriya further said, "On October 10, Vettaiyan is coming. We should give way to the film out of respect. He [Rajinikanth] is senior to me. He has been an identity of Tamil cinema for over 50 years." "The child's birthday is on the day when it is born. To celebrate its birthday and to make it a festival, I believe you will be with me. Please pray for Kanguva's team. Let it be an important day for all."
