'Oh My doG,' backed by Suriya, finally gets release date
What's the story
Amazon Prime Video announced on Wednesday that Tamil drama Oh My doG will hit their platform on April 21.
Backed by Suriya-founded 2D Entertainment, the film stars Arun Vijay, Vijaya Kumar, Arnav Arun Vijay, Vinay Rai, and a white dog.
Oh My doG is a part of a four-film deal 2D Entertainment struck with Amazon Prime Video way back in August last year.

Why does this story matter?
In August 2021, 2D Entertainment signed a pact with Amazon Prime Video to release four of its films, starting September.
Apart from Oh My doG, the other ventures were Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum (released on September 24), Udanpirappe (an October 14 release), and the blockbuster Jai Bhim (premiered in November).
Now, with Oh My doG's release, the deal has reached the finish line.

How was the announcement made?
While announcing the release date, Suriya wrote, "Oreo, Waffle, Jo and I, bring to you #OhMyDogOnPrime a film from our hearts to yours, on 21 April @PrimeVideoIN #ArnavVijay #Simba @arunvijayno1."
On their part, Amazon Prime Video tweeted, "Did we see (dog icon) (we are not crying, you are) watch #OhMyDogOnPrime, April 21."
This is the 13th production of 2D Entertainment, founded in 2013.

What do we know of the film?
Directed by debutant Sarov Shanmugam, Oh My doG will be about the bond between Arjun and his blind dog, Simba.
Touted as a fun-filled kids film, it's set entirely in the picturesque resort town of Ooty.
The upcoming movie will have Vijay and Vijaya Kumar as Arnav's father and grandfather, respectively. To note, Arnav, Vijay's son, is making his acting debut with this film.
