Superman, Batman to fight DC's first-ever villain in new comic
Two of the DC Universe's most iconic superheroes, Superman and Batman, are all set to reunite to take on an age-old threat to Gotham City. In fact, the super friends will be out to fight DC's first-ever villain, the Ultra-Humanite, in a new upcoming edition of DC comic series, Batman/Superman. Here is all you need to know about it.
Ultra-Humanite was the first-ever supervillain faced by Superman
Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Ultra-Humanite first appeared in Action Comics #13 (1939). He was one among the first supervillains of the Golden Age of Comics (1938-1956), and the first-ever nemesis faced by the Superman, even before Lex Luthor was introduced in DC Comics. The "mad scientist" fought Superman using his intellect, inventions, and numerous front men and stooges.
Ultra-Humanite later took form of a giant albino gorilla
Before the Ultra-Humanite, Superman mostly fought corrupt landlords and extortionists. But the supervillain was meant to be the ultimate embodiment of corruption, who would use his superior intellect to run ludicrously designed extortion scams. Capable of transferring his consciousness into other bodies, Ultra-Humanite later transferred his mind into the body of a giant albino gorilla to take his most recognizable modern form.
'The horrific plan of Ultra-Humanite rains terror down'
The official description of the new comic reads, "Devastation in Gotham City! Following the events of a massive explosion in midtown, Batman and Superman pick up pieces to learn who rigged the Atomic Skull like a bomb." "All will be revealed as the horrific plan of Ultra-Humanite rains terror down on the lives of Dark Knight and the Man of Steel!" it adds.
Batman/Superman #10 to release on May 27
Written by Joshua Williamson, with art and cover by Clayton Henry, the Batman/Superman #10 comic is set to hit store shelves in the US on May 27, this year.
