#ComicBytes: Facts about Iron Man movies haven't shown yet
Genius, Billionaire, you know how it goes. Iron Man went from being a relatively unknown character to a worldwide phenomenon in a mere decade. While MCU films have covered a hefty part of his life, there are still some things that remain unknown. If you think you know all about Tony Stark/Iron Man, think again. Here are some facts you (probably) didn't know.
The original suit looked different from the one we know
The original Iron Man suit (Model 1) was created by Tony when he was captured by a terrorist cell in Afghanistan. Its prime purpose was to act as a pacemaker for his heart after shrapnel from a landmine had entered his chest. Other than rocket boosters, flame throwers, and magnets, it had features like belt-attached loudspeakers and a metal kilt to protect his groin.
He owns Area 51, has served as US Defense Secretary
Area 51 was casually purchased by Tony. This is one of the biggest real-world mysteries and a regular feature in millions of legends. The reason for this purchase hasn't been revealed but he did use it once to hide the Reality Gem. Only the powerful and well-connected can be Defense Secretaries. Tony is both. That's why, in a storyline, he briefly served as one.
Tony served as director of SHIELD and JARVIS is human
Tony Stark has been a lot of things, and SHIELD director is just one of those. During the Civil war storyline, the job was given to him by the then director, Maria Hill. Also, did you know that JARVIS, Tony's AI assistant in the MCU is human (he's his butler) in the comics? Marvel made this change to avoid comparison with DC's Batman.
