Sunny-Varun-Diljit's 'Border 2' to start filming from November: Report
The much-anticipated war film, Border 2, is set to commence filming from November 25 in North India, Pinkvilla reported. The movie is a collaboration between Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta, with Anurag Singh at the helm as director. The star-studded cast includes Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, who will portray Indian Armed Forces Officers. The pre-production work for the film has been underway for nearly a year.
Filming to take place at real locations
According to a source close to the project, the team is set to begin recce for the film within a week. The first two locations they have chosen are Jammu and Srinagar. The source also revealed that the team is planning to shoot a significant portion of the film at real locations near India's borders, particularly in special armed force areas, to lend authenticity to the movie.
'High-octane yet authentic war film' in the making
The source further elaborated that the team aims to create a "high-octane yet authentic war film." They are committed to delivering a movie that not only makes the audience proud but also honors the legacy of the first part, released in 1997. The film will be shot over a six-month period from November to May and is scheduled for release on Republic Day 2026, reportedly.
Cast excited to begin 'Border 2' journey
Deol, Dhawan, and Dosanjh are all eager to start work on Border 2 from November. The source also revealed that the team is putting a lot of effort into planning the logistics to ensure the smooth execution of this action-heavy franchise. The casting for other key characters in the film is currently in progress. To recall, the 1997 film was set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and followed the events of the Battle of Longewala.
