Sunny Leone questioned by Kerala Police in cheating case
Actor-model Sunny Leone was questioned by the Crime Branch of Kerala Police on Friday evening, acting on a complaint filed by a person alleging that she has duped him of Rs. 29 lakh. However, the actor, who is currently vacationing in the state, has denied the allegations. The complaint has been filed by one R Shiyas of Perumbavur. Here are more details on this.
Leone duped me of Rs. 29 lakh, alleges complainant
Shiyas, the coordinator of an event, alleged that Leone was supposed to attend two programs in early 2019 but she eventually failed to show up. Shiyas had initially petitioned the State Police chief, who then forwarded it to the Crime Branch. He said that the actor had accepted Rs. 29 lakh promising to participate in the said programs.
Leone dismisses the complaint as baseless
Leone, in her statement, has reportedly told the Crime Branch that she missed the programs because of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic situation. She further added that the organizers rescheduled the event multiple times, and an additional payment of Rs. 12.50 lakh was not paid to her until the day of the event, The Hindu reported citing Crime Branch sources.
Team accessed WhatsApp communication between parties
As per reports, the investigating team also accessed WhatsApp communication between the concerned parties over the payment dues. The cops are now planning to contact other celebrities who were engaged by the coordinators to attend the event to know if they had a similar experience.
Leone gearing up for her first Malayalam film
Separately, on the work front, Leone currently has many projects in the pipeline. She will soon make her Malayalam film debut with Rangeela. She is also working on Koka Kola and Helen, both of which are bilingual movies shot in Hindi and Telugu. She was recently seen in the reality show What the Love! hosted by Karan Johar for Netflix.
