'Border 2' to begin filming in J&K from November 25
The sequel to the iconic war film Border (1997), titled Border 2, is set to kick off shooting on November 25 in Jammu and Kashmir, reported Mid-Day. The film will feature Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, under the direction of Anurag Singh. The production team has planned a non-stop five-month schedule that will run until March 2025.
'Border 2' to revisit 1971 Indo-Pakistan war
Just like the first one, Border 2 will revisit the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. The earlier film, helmed by JP Dutta, depicted the Battle of Longewala. Now, Dutta, along with his daughter Nidhi Dutta and producer Bhushan Kumar, is all set to explore another angle of the same conflict. According to a source, "The team has finalized two locations in Jammu and Kashmir but are keeping it under wraps till the Indian Army gives its final approval for the shoot."
'Border 2' to feature massive action sequences
The film's shooting will kick off with an epic action sequence featuring some heavy-duty artillery and guns. The set pieces for these adrenaline-pumping scenes are crafted by Nick Powell, the genius behind the action in films like RRR (2022), The Last Samurai (2003), The Bourne Identity (2002), and The Mummy (1999). After wrapping up the first leg in J&K, the team will head to Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in January 2025.
'Border 2' team's collaboration with armed forces
Before the cameras start rolling, the cast will participate in some intense workshops in October. Producer Nidhi Dutta shared that the team has been in touch with the Armed Forces for over a year to create the material. She mentioned, "My father has always made films for and with the Armed Forces. So, we make sure the heroes' families and the Ministry of Defence are with us on this journey." Kumar also confirmed that Border 2 will start filming soon.
