Sunny Deol never read film scripts in his acting career
Sunny Deol is a veteran Bollywood actor with a career spanning over 35 years. He has several blockbusters under his belt after his 1983 Betaab debut, including films like Darr, Ghayal, Damini, and Gaddar: Ek Prem Katha. However, despite these content-rich films, Sunny admitted that he has never read a single script in his entire acting career. Here's more on what he said.
All about Sunny's acting process
Sunny describes his approach to acting as 'instinctive'. Although he realizes the risk behind the process, he consciously chooses to hear the story directly from the writers than reading the script. This interaction with the storytellers helps him get rid of fixed mindsets while reading the story and gives him a better understanding of how the writers perceived and interpreted the tale.
The idea unclouded by interpretations
About his acting style, Sunny said, "I just hear the idea from the director and go for it. I have always interacted with the story writer and heard the subject because that's what is going to eventually come over on screen".
The risks in Sunny's approach
Sunny, however, realized the risk in his approach, as he would enter a film with only the storyteller's interpretation of the story. While it was not exactly a gamble, often the directors and producers would shape the film's direction by imposing their own subjective interpretations. However, Sunny was mature enough to enjoy these changes and not disown the project, realizing it belonged to everyone.
Staying alert and relevant within the comfort zone
The 62-year-old will be seen today in Bhaiaji Superhit for which he convinced Preity Zinta to return to acting. Although the action-comedy is Sunny's familiar territory, he does not feel complacent. However, he does not get nervous about them either, trying to enjoy his roles. Notably, Sunny also spoke of doing relevant roles showing that the veteran is still keeping up with Bollywood's trends.
