'Not true': Manager breaks silence on Sunita Ahuja-Govinda's divorce buzz
What's the story
Speculation has been rife about trouble in Govinda and Sunita Ahuja's marriage, with rumors suggesting the couple, who have been together for 37 years, may have separated.
As these reports gained momentum, Ahuja's manager Sadia Solkar has rubbished rumors of a divorce between her client and the Bollywood actor.
Speaking to Mint, Solkar emphatically stated that the divorce rumors were unfounded.
"This is not true," she said.
Allegations
'She might have said a bit too much...'
Earlier, Govinda's manager Shashi Sinha had hinted that Ahuja's recent interviews were the reason behind the divorce rumors.
He said, "Sunita ji ne jo recent interviews mein baatein boli hain, yeh unn sab ka nateeja hai. (The rumors began as a result of everything Sunita Ji has been saying in recent interviews.) She might have said a bit too much."
However, when asked about legal proceedings regarding a possible divorce, Sinha assured "they were not involved as yet."
Clarification
'They are going strong and will always be together'
Meanwhile, Lalit Bindal, a family friend and lawyer of Govinda, also refuted the divorce rumors.
He confirmed to India Today that the couple had indeed filed for divorce around six months back but things got sorted out later and they're back together.
"Everything is fine between them now. Such things keep happening between couples, but they are going strong and will always be together," he added.
Dismissal
Bindal dismissed rumors of the couple living separately
Further, Bindal rubbished rumors of Govinda and Ahuja staying in separate apartments.
He explained that the actor had purchased a bungalow for official use after becoming an MP, which is situated opposite the flat where the couple has been living since their marriage.
The Hero No. 1 actor "attends meetings and sometimes even sleeps over in the bungalow. However, the couple continues to live together," he said.
Defense
'No divorce is going to happen'
Bindal also defended Ahuja against criticism over her public statements.
He argued her comments were being taken out of context and used against the couple.
"Like when she said mujhe Govinda jaisa pati nahi chaiye (I don't want Govinda as my husband in next birth), she did add that she wanted a son like him," he explained.
He concluded by reiterating his assurance of the couple's unity, stating emphatically, "No divorce is going to happen."
