Sukhwinder Singh reveals secret of his two-decade-long singing career
Sukhwinder Singh has been in the industry for nearly two decades and the singer says his undying passion for music is what keeps him going. "Good singing is something that takes you ahead in career. My passion for music is undying. Till the time you have passion, you can entertain others, but the day you don't have it, you are zero," Singh said.
From Big B to Ranbir, Singh has done it all
The singer-composer has done playback for stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, and most recently "Kar Har Maidan Fateh" for Ranbir Kapoor in "Sanju". The singer says he is thrilled with the response for his latest song.
Singh reminisces about his struggling days
Singh still remembers his struggling days, when he did not have money to even pay his rent. He said workwise he only knew music but had no idea whom to approach. "When I heard the music of 'Roja', I was intrigued by it and was looking to work with AR Rahman. I arranged to send a copy of my album to him," he added.
Rahman paved the way for Singh's career
Rahman then called upon Singh but asked him to write a song for Govind Nihalani's "Thakshak". Little did Singh know that the song, "Mujhe rang de" featuring Tabu will become a chartbuster and it would mark the beginning of his relationship with Rahman. The duo went on to collaborate on songs like "Chaiyya Chaiyya", "Ramta Jogi" and the Oscar-winning "Jai Ho", among others.
Singh's voice to be heard in Gold, Thugs of Hindostan
Singh next has films such as "Gold", "Batti Gul Meter Chalu", "Thugs of Hindostan", "Zero" and a song in Abhishek Chaubey's next.
Singh slowed down, but approached people for work last year
The singer said that he decided to slow down as he was not receiving good offers and did not want to take up any song he did not believe in. Last year, Singh, however, approached people for work. "By the grace of God, I got the opportunity to sing some really nice songs in films," the singer said.
Singh contradicts Arijit Singh's statement
In another interview, Singh earlier contradicted Arijit Singh's statement of singers having a shelf life of 6-7 years in the industry. "Lata Ji ko bhul gaye wo? Even today filmmakers want to make movies only if Lata Ji agrees to sing," he had said.
