'Khel Khel Mein'
The star-studded film Khel Khel Mein, featuring an ensemble of Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, and Ammy Virk, among others is set to hit theaters on August 15. Helmed by Mudassar Aziz, this comedy revolves around a group of friends who reveal secrets about each other during a dinner gathering. This movie is a remake of the 2016 Italian film Perfect Strangers.
'Vedaa,' 'Stree 2'
Inspired by true events, the film Vedaa is set to depict the bravery of a person challenging a draconian system in an uprising. The plot follows a young woman's fight for justice, guided by an ally portrayed by John Abraham. Sharvari plays the young woman. Meanwhile, one of the most talked about movies in this lineup is Stree 2. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, it continues the tale of a ghostly female presence haunting a small town.
'Thangalaan,' 'Mr. Bachchan'
Another film to watch out for this Independence Day is Thangalaan, a true story revolving around the lives of mine workers in the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF). Directed by Pa Ranjith, it features Chiyaan Vikram in an unprecedented role. Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvothu also play significant roles in this film. Mr. Bachchan is another film—releasing on I-Day—inspired by a real-life incident involving an income tax raid at the home of industrialist Sardar Inder Singh. It stars Ravi Teja.
'Raghu Thatha,' 'Double iSmart'
Next on the list is Raghu Thatha, starring Keerthy Suresh. This film tells the story of Kayalvizhi, a rebellious young woman navigating between principle and patriarchy, and is expected to resonate with audiences of all ages.
