'Stree 2' becomes highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024
Stree 2, a horror-comedy starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024 in just five days. The film, which had an impressive four-day extended weekend collection of ₹193 crore, has now entered the ₹200 crore club. It has surpassed the lifetime collections of Fighter, the previous record holder with ₹201.5 crore.
'Stree 2' expected to collect ₹30-32 crore on fifth day
Stree 2 started its Monday morning shows with high occupancy, surpassing its Friday collections. The film is projected to earn an additional ₹30-32 crore on its fifth day, bringing the total collection to around ₹220 crore. The first week collections of Stree 2 are expected to reach approximately ₹275 crore, setting a new benchmark for the Hindi film industry in 2024.
'Stree 2' could be the highest-grossing film of the year
Stree 2 is on track to become the highest-grossing film of the year, with collections expected to exceed ₹450 crore in Hindi. However, this could change with the release of Singham Again on Diwali 2024 weekend. The film was made on a budget of about ₹120 crore, including print and publicity, and has already provided a significant return on investment for Maddock Films and Jio Studios.
'Stree 2' records one of the biggest openings of 2024
Stree 2 had a strong start at the box office, recording one of the biggest openings of the year. It earned ₹8.5 crore in previews and opened with ₹51.8 crore on Thursday, Independence Day. Despite a dip on Friday with earnings of ₹31.4 crore, the film picked up pace over the weekend, collecting ₹43.85 crore on Saturday and ₹55.9 crore on Sunday.
'Stree 2' earns ₹273 crore worldwide
At the worldwide box office, Stree 2 has earned ₹273 crore. The film is a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree and features Kapoor, Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana in lead roles. It also includes a special cameo by Akshay Kumar. Upon its release, Stree 2 faced competition from Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein at the box office.
