'Stree 2' advance booking: 1L+ tickets sold in 48 hours
The highly-anticipated horror-comedy film Stree 2, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has set a new record by selling over one lakh tickets within just 48 hours of the commencement of advance booking. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Stree is expected to surpass the overall advance booking of recent releases like Fighter, Dunki, and Tiger 3 by Wednesday.
'Stree 2' outperforms 'Tiger 3,' 'Brahmastra' in advance bookings
Stree 2 has reportedly sold approximately 85,000 tickets across the top three national chains - PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis. Nationwide, the film has sold over 1.22 lakh tickets, as per Sacnilk. This figure significantly surpasses the advance booking numbers of recent releases like Tiger 3 (72,000 tickets) and Brahmastra (65,000 tickets) within the same period.
Film trade analyst predicts 'humongous' opening for 'Stree 2'
Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel took to Twitter on Sunday, predicting a strong opening for Stree 2. He wrote, "Jio Studios's Stree 2 has sold 45,000 tickets at national chains in advance for day 1 including previews. Eyeing finish in the vicinity of ₹2.5 -3.5 lakh (tickets). Set for a HUMONGOUS ₹30-35 crore nett opening on August 15."
'Stree 2' to face box office clash on Independence Day
Stree 2 is set to hit the screens on August 15, coinciding with India's Independence Day. The film will face competition from other big-ticket Hindi releases including Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa. Additionally, Tamil actor Vikram's Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, and Puri Jagannadh's Double iSmart, featuring Telugu star Ram Pothineni alongside Sanjay Dutt, are also slated for release on the same day.

Stree 2 is a joint production by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films and Jio Studios's Jyoti Deshpande. The film continues Maddock's horror-comedy universe, which also includes Varun Dhawan's Bhediya and the recently released Munjya, featuring Sharvari and Abhay Verma. Set in the small town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, Stree 2 revolves around a new spirit named 'Sarkata' that will lock horns with the known spirit, 'Stree.'
