'Stree 2' posts lowest earnings of ₹1.35cr on Day 40
The horror-comedy Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has become an all-time blockbuster. Despite experiencing its lowest collection day on the 40th day of release (Monday), it has amassed ₹579 crore in total. The film is now just ₹3.31 crore short of surpassing Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan's Hindi record (₹582.31cr). However, it still ranks fifth among Indian cinema's biggest hits with Jawan leading at ₹640.25 crore (all languages).
'Stree 2' experienced 2 significant collection dips
Stree 2's box office collection dipped below the ₹2 crore mark twice during its 40-day run. The first instance occurred last week on Thursday when it collected just ₹1.65 crore. The second dip happened on the 40th day, with early estimates by Sacnilk suggesting that the film added only ₹1.35 crore to its total collection, bringing it to ₹579 crore. Estimates by trade analyst Taran Adarsh put Stree 2's collections above ₹600cr though.
'Stree 2' is part of Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe
Stree 2 is a part of producer Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe, which includes Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer Bhediya and Abhay Verma and Sharvari's Munjya. The universe will soon expand with the introduction of vampires in an upcoming film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. Additionally, there are plans for a spin-off focusing on Kapoor's character to explore the backstory of Stree.
