'Stree 2' surpasses 'Pathaan'; is now second highest-earning Hindi film!
Amar Kaushik's Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan to become the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India. This news comes just a day after it outperformed the Hindi version of Baahubali 2. On Saturday, Stree 2 raised its domestic box office total to ₹516.25cr nett, surpassing Baahubali 2 and positioning itself behind only Khan's Jawan and Pathaan.
'Stree 2' now only trails behind 'Jawan'
On Sunday, Stree 2 added about ₹10cr to its total, reaching roughly ₹527cr nett and surpassing Pathaan's ₹524.53cr. This makes Stree 2 the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India. To take the top spot, it still needs to catch up with Jawan, which has earned ₹582.31cr.
'Stree 2' has been dominating the box office
Stree 2 has enjoyed a successful run at the box office without facing any significant competition for weeks. However, this is set to change with the release of Hansal Mehta's thriller The Buckingham Murders, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan on Friday. The horror comedy film also stars Rao and Aparshakti Khurana and features Pankaj Tripathi in a pivotal role.
'Stree 2' continues to impress audiences
Stree 2, which hit theaters on August 15, has been well-received by audiences. The sequel continues the eerie tale in the town of Chanderi, now haunted by a new terror, Sarkata. The townspeople once again turn to Stree for salvation. The film also features several surprise cameos, including Varun Dhawan as Bhediya, who shares a special song with Kapoor.
'Stree 2' is an all-time blockbuster
Despite clashing at the box office with Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa, Stree 2 managed to captivate audiences. Produced by Maddock Films, the film has turned into an all-time blockbuster. Stree 2 is the sequel to Kaushik's 2018 directorial debut Stree, which established Dinesh Vijan's horror comedy cinematic universe.
