The horror-comedy film Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, continues its impressive run at the box office. Despite entering its fourth week and experiencing single-digit earnings, the movie has surpassed the ₹500cr mark in India. On Day 23 (Friday), it added another ₹4.25cr to its kitty, bringing the total collection to a staggering ₹507.50cr. Now, it's on track to surpass Gadar 2's lifetime box office collections of ₹525.45cr in India!
'Stree 2' is the biggest blockbuster of 2024
Stree 2 has not only been a commercial success but also set new records in Indian cinema. It has become the biggest blockbuster of 2024 in terms of return on investment. The film's impressive performance at the box office is evident from its day-wise collection, which started strong with ₹8.5cr during special previews and peaked at ₹55.9cr on Day 4. Despite a gradual decline in daily earnings, it has maintained steady overall growth.
'Stree 2' is part of a successful franchise
The film is a sequel to Stree, which was released in 2018. The original movie was also a commercial success, grossing over ₹180cr worldwide against a budget of ₹24cr. Both films are part of a planned trilogy, with Stree 3 expected to conclude the series. The cast also includes Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee in supporting roles. It's a part of Maddock's horror-comedy universe that also includes Munjya and Bhediya.
