Steve Carell joins Tina Fey in Netflix's 'The Four Seasons'
The Office alum Steve Carell is returning to comedy! Per Variety, the actor will star opposite Tina Fey in Netflix's upcoming comedy series, The Four Seasons. The eight-episode-long show, inspired by a 1981 namesake film, was announced in January and will reportedly go on floors later this year. This marks another collaboration between Carell and Fey, who previously played a married couple in the 2010 comedy Date Night.
Know more about the film that inspired the show
The Four Seasons (1981) was directed by Alan Alda and starred Alda, Carol Burnett, Rita Moreno, Sandy Dennis, and Len Cariou, among others. The movie's plot centered around three married couples vacationing together each season, with a twist involving a husband leaving his wife for a younger woman. Carell and Fey's roles in the new series have not been disclosed yet.
Fey is also co-developing the series
In addition to starring in The Four Seasons, Fey is also co-developing the series with Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield. The trio has previously worked together on the popular NBC sitcom 30 Rock. The executive production team for the new series includes Eric Gurian, David Miner, and Jeff Richmond. Alda and Marissa Bregman—whose father was involved in producing the original film—will also contribute to the series' production.
A look at Carell's illustrious career in Hollywood
Carell is well-known for his role in NBC's hit comedy The Office, which earned him six consecutive Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win in 2006. He also received an Oscar nomination for his performance in the 2014 film Foxcatcher. His extensive portfolio includes films like The 40 Year Old Virgin, The Big Short, and the Despicable Me franchise, as well as TV shows such as FX's The Patient and Apple TV+'s The Morning Show.
Earlier, Carell worked with Netflix on 'Space Force'
The show will feel like a reunion of sorts for Carell, not just because he is reuniting with Fey, but also because he will be collaborating with Netflix once again after the 2020 comedy Space Force. Created by Greg Daniels and Carell, the show also starred Diana Silvers, Lisa Kudrow, and Jimmy O Yang. It ran for two seasons, comprising 17 episodes.
