'Traitorous Dipsh*t!': Stephen King returns to X, slams Trump, Musk
What's the story
Renowned horror author Stephen King has made an unexpected return to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), after a three-month hiatus.
King left the platform in November 2024, following the re-election of US President Donald Trump.
Although he found a new digital home on Bluesky during his absence from X, King marked his return with a scathing critique of both Trump and Elon Musk—the latter being the owner of X.
Criticism
King's fiery return to X
King announced his return to X with a post to his 6.8 million followers, "I'm baaaack! Did you miss me?"
He quickly followed it up with a sharp critique of Trump and Musk, declaring: "Just wanted to say that Trump is a traitorous, Putin-loving dipsh*t! Goes double for Elon!"
The post quickly gained traction, amassing over 100K likes within four hours.
Past remarks
King's previous criticisms of Trump and Musk
Before returning to X, King had been outspoken against Trump on Bluesky.
"Just when you think Donald Trump cannot sink lower or be more shameful, today he's blaming Ukraine for the war and calling Zelensky a dictator when he knows perfectly well that Putin's constant re-elections are put-up jobs," King wrote on Bluesky.
In another post, he called out both Trump and Musk for ignoring the Constitution they were sworn to protect.
Movie launch
King's return coincided with movie release
Interestingly, King's return to X also coincided with the theatrical release of The Monkey, a film directed by Osgood Perkins and based on one of King's short stories.
However, he hasn't used the platform to promote the movie and has instead focused on expressing his criticisms of Trump and Musk.
The movie stars Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, and Colin O'Brien. It follows twin brothers whose lives are turned upside down by a cursed toy monkey.
