'Grateful': Rhea's lawyer welcomes CBI's closure report in Sushant's case
What's the story
Actor Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer Satish Maneshinde has thanked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for closing the case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's alleged suicide.
The CBI recently filed two closure reports in Rajput's death—one for abetment to suicide filed by Rajput's father KK Singh and another based on Chakraborty's complaint against Rajput's sisters.
"We are grateful to the CBI for having thoroughly investigated every aspect of the case from all angles," Maneshinde said.
Court proceedings
CBI's closure reports submitted to special courts
The CBI's closure reports were filed before special courts in Patna and Mumbai, respectively.
These courts will determine whether to accept the reports or direct further investigations.
The agency's probe ruled out any foul play in Rajput's death, concluding that there was no material to support allegations of anyone driving him to suicide.
Maneshinde also slammed the false narratives on social media and electronic media about Rajput's death and Chakraborty's alleged involvement.
Statements
'Rhea Chakraborty had to undergo untold miseries...'
Maneshinde added, "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone was glued to the TV and social media in the absence of anything happening in the country."
"Innocent people were hounded and paraded before the media and investigative authorities. Rhea Chakraborty had to undergo untold miseries and was behind bars for 27 days for no fault of hers until Justice Sarang V. Kotwal released her on bail."

Allegations and investigations surrounding Rajput's death
Rajput (34) was tragically discovered dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020.
After his death, Singh filed a case with Patna Police, accusing Chakraborty of abetting his son's suicide, and siphoning off ₹15 crore from his accounts.
Chakraborty, on her part, filed a complaint accusing Rajput's sisters of giving him medications based on a fake prescription.
The CBI took over the investigation, collecting statements from Chakraborty, her aides, Rajput's family, and medical reports.
