After 'Kaamyaab', SRK to produce movie on Muzaffarpur shelter case
Even as he remains missing from the silver screen, Shah Rukh Khan continues to bring forward socially relevant stories through his production house. After producing Kaamyaab, which received glowing reviews, Khan's production house Red Chillies Entertainment is set to make a movie on the infamous 2018 Muzaffarpur shelter home mass rapes case. Meanwhile, Khan is yet to announce his next acting project.
The movie is expected to go on floors this July
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the movie will be directed by Pulkit, who has previously helmed acclaimed projects such as 2016 thriller Maroon and ALTBalaji web-series Bose: Dead/Alive. The movie, which will have a journalist as a protagonist, is currently being scripted. The cast will be finalized soon and the project is expected to go on floors this July, the report adds.
What is the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case?
The notorious Muzaffarpur shelter home case had come to light after the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) submitted a report to the Bihar government in May 2018, highlighting sexual abuse of dozens of minor girls in a shelter home run by an NGO in the city. Subsequently, an FIR in the matter was lodged against 11 accused on May 31, that year.
In January, 19 people were convicted in the case
It should be noted that in January this year, Brajesh Thakur, the main accused in the case, along with 18 other persons were found guilty in the case by a Delhi court. Then, in February, Thakur was sentenced to life in prison by the court.
Khan's last production 'Kaamyaab' received positive reviews
Meanwhile, Khan's last production, Kaamyaab, starring Sanjay Mishra in the role of a forgotten 'side' actor received positive reviews. However, ever since his last outing Zero (2018) failed, Khan has taken a back seat of sorts. While there have been countless rumors about him signing one movie or the other, he has not given any official confirmation yet.
