SRK to play octopus-like creature in Shankar's next sci-fi thriller?
After playing a dwarf in his last release Zero, Shah Rukh Khan may now be seen playing an underwater superhero in Shankar's next directorial. According to a media report, SRK has been approached for the 2.0 director's upcoming sci-fi thriller, possibly in 3D. It also claims that Khan can be playing the role of an octopus-like creature with superpowers.
The movie can become SRK and Shankar's first project together
As per the Pinkvilla report, the discussion between SRK and Shankar is still at a nascent stage. If all goes well, this will mark their first project together. "It's an octopus-like creature who possesses superpowers and superior intellect. It would be exciting to have SRK give his nod for this one, as he and Shankar have never worked before earlier," Pinkvilla's source added.
Shankar was keen to work with Hrithik Roshan
Although official confirmation is still awaited about the project, it is also revealed that SRK was not the first choice for the sci-fi thriller. Reportedly, Shankar was keen to rope in Hrithik Roshan for the role. However, things didn't work out between the two owing to the actor's busy schedule. The Super 30 actor, reportedly, is busy with Farah Khan's Satte Pe Satta remake.
Hrithik's date diary is full with other movies
Quoting the source, "Shankar had narrated the script to Hrithik months ago but the buzz is that he has given the nod to Satte Pe Satta and his date diary is full with other movies so he won't have time for the underwater action adventure-drama,".
Expect a complex character with strong background story
Talking about the story, the movie is said to "revolve around a gigantic octopus-like creature (which lives in the ocean) possessing special powers". The creature is expected to be half-human and half-octopus like 2.0's ornithologist Pakshi Rajan ( played by Akshay Kumar). Apart from the interesting powers, it also seems to have a complex character owing to strong background story.
Shankar's sci-fi thriller to have a bigger budget than 2.0
Furthermore, the report stated that the script is ready and Shankar wants to use "the best underwater motion capture technology on offer". Besides, there will some high-octane action sequences as well. The source at Pinkvilla expects it to be an extremely ambitious and expensive venture, claiming it to be the reason Shankar is eyeing international studios for a project bigger than 2.0.
Jackie Chan and Li Bingbing approached for Shankar's sci-fi thriller
Reportedly, apart from Shah Rukh Khan, Shankar has also approached Chinese actors Jackie Chan and Li Bingbing, and Tamil star Vijay for other pivotal roles in the movie. However, there is no official announcement about the final cast of the movie.
