SRK to produce Bollywood adaptation of Spanish series 'Money Heist'?
Is Shah Rukh Khan in love with Spanish cinema? Apparently, yes. After producing Badla early this year, the Bollywood adaptation of Spanish thriller Invisible Guest, the superstar is up for another remake. According to media reports, SRK's production house Red Chillies Entertainment has bagged the remake rights of the Spanish series Money Heist for making a feature film in the Indian context.
SRK was introduced to the show by his professional partner
"Shah Rukh Khan was introduced to Money Heist (which is now in the third season) by one of his partners. He loves the show and believes it can be adapted in the Indian context as a feature film," a source reportedly told Mumbai Mirror.
The Netflix series is an intriguing story of heist
Money Heist, which started airing on Netflix in 2017, narrates a story of an unusual robbery of 2.4 billion Euros from a bank. The series features a mysterious man who hires eight criminals for the loot, and calls himself "The Professor." He trains them for the operation in an abandoned house for five months, and monitors it from outside, while manipulating the police.
Will SRK act in the Bollywood adaptation of 'Money Heist'?
For the Bollywood adaptation of Money Heist, a team of writers has already begun scripting. It is also likely that the 53-year-old actor will be among the lead cast. However, the source informed that "there is no clarity on SRK's involvement as an actor." The source further emphasized that the cast will be decided only after the script is finalized.
"SRK open to involve other actors in his production ventures"
"At this point in time, he is only producing the Bollywood adaptation of Money Heist. Shah Rukh Khan has always been open to involving other actors in his production ventures," the source added. SRK was last seen in the debacle called Zero.
No news yet on SRK's next acting project, #WeMissSRKOnBigScreen trends
Meanwhile, SRK, reeling under the Zero effect, is yet to announce his next (acting) project. While there have been speculations about him being in talks with directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani, Farhan Akhtar etc., no official confirmation has been made. It seems that his absence from the big screen is being felt deeply, as #WeMissSRKOnBigScreen was among the top Twitter trends lately.
For now, SRK wants to spend time with his family
Talking about this absence, SRK recently said, "Usually what happens is when your one film is coming to an end, you begin work on your next film and I get involved within 3 to 4 months. But this time my heart doesn't allow me to." The Dilwale actor has instead opted to spend more time with his family and pamper himself.
