The first schedule of King will commence in Mumbai from January, with SRK and Suhana leading the charge. "The first schedule of King commences in Mumbai from January, followed by a marathon schedule in Europe," revealed a source close to the development. The makers have conducted multiple rounds of recce in Europe to identify unique locations that add scale to the film, added the insider.
'King' filming to continue until late 2026
The filming of King is expected to continue until August or September 2026. The production will require the actors to switch between various locations. "The idea is to shoot the action at real locations as also the studio set up, to bring in the right blend of realism to the story-telling pattern," a source informed. The makers aim for a new form of action with Khan in King, and Khan himself is excited about this venture.
'King' targets Eid 2026 release, marking SRK's festival return
The film is aiming for an Eid 2026 release. "A film like King is apt for the Eid 2026 period and that's what Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are aiming at," the insider added. This would mark King Khan's return to the festival after the historic success of Chennai Express. Given the current shooting timelines, the makers are confident of meeting the Eid 2026 release slot.
Khan to follow 'King' with YRF Spy Universe film
After wrapping up King, Khan will move on to the YRF Spy Universe film, Pathaan 2. The film is currently in the writing stage. Meanwhile, Anand's banner, Marflix, is preparing to produce eight feature films in the next two years. Apart from King, the lineup includes projects like Jewel Thief with Saif Ali Khan, the Hrithik Roshan-led superhero franchise Krrish 4, and a film on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's life among others.
