At Bachchans' Diwali party, SRK saves Aishwarya's manager from fire
There are innumerable reasons to love Shah Rukh Khan, and he has given yet another. The Bollywood superstar became a knight in shining armor at a Diwali party recently, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan and his family. He rescued Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's manager from fire and suffered minor injuries in the process. The publicist Archana Sadanand is recuperating at Nanavati Hospital. Here's what went down.
When Archana's lehenga caught fire, SRK acted quickly
The party at Jalsa was swarmed by Bollywood celebrities, and naturally, the festivities continued till after midnight. Around 3 am when Archana was in the courtyard with her daughter, her lehenga caught fire due to a diya. By then, most of the guests had left. While the remaining guests were too stunned to react, SRK jumped to Archana's rescue.
SRK sustained injuries while saving her
"Shah Rukh had the presence of mind, rushed to Archana, and put out the fire. He, too, sustained minor burns while dousing the flames with a jacket. His only thought was to put out the fire," an insider told Mid-Day.
Admitted to Nanavati Hospital, Archana is recovering well
The report added Archana suffered 15% injuries and was admitted to hospital in the wee hours of Monday. Her right leg and hands were burnt. Dr. Devyani B Venkat, a plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon, is treating her. Further, the report added she is recovering well and was even made to walk. She has been kept in an isolated ICU to prevent infections.
It was an unfortunate incident: Police
Following protocol, the Mumbai police also spoke with Archana. "We have been intimated by Nanavati Hospital about the admission of the patient. The local police recorded her statement, where she confirmed it was an unfortunate accident," said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Manoj Kumar Sharma.
SRK's antics impressed Farah Khan
After the news got attention, SRK's friend and director-choreographer Farah Khan heaped praises on him. "@iamsrk mohabbatman to the rescue! Praying for Archana 's speedy recovery, (sic)" she tweeted. SRK, who was last seen in Aanand L. Rai's Zero, was in the news recently after his interview with David Letterman impressed everyone across the globe. A part of the show was shot in India.
