Shah Rukh gets Crystal Award for human rights at Davos
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the prestigious 24th Crystal Award on Monday at the World Economic Forum in Davos for "his leadership in championing children's and women's rights in India." Shah Rukh runs an NGO called Meer Foundation that provides medical support to female victims of acid attacks. Here are the details.
Here's how Shah Rukh reacted to the award
Thanking WEF, Shah Rukh stated that he is happy to get recognition for his "miniscule work". "Extremely charged with the amazing opportunity I have had. This award is a recognition for the minuscule work that I did. I would like to do it with even more fervour. What is even more pleasant is that India is here in full power," he said.
Elton John, Cate Blanchett too were awarded at the event
The Crystal Award is given by the World Economic Forum to actors/public figures who work towards the betterment of the society. Along with SRK, English singer Sir Elton John and Australian actress Cate Blanchett were also awarded at the event. SRK expressed his honor of sharing the space with such eminent personalities in his acceptance speech.
SRK also had a fanboy moment with Cate Blanchett
On winning the award, SRK talked about how the women in his life have helped him in becoming a better person. Shah Rukh was at his witty best and asked Cate Blanchett for a selfie publicly. He further added that it may embarrass his children, leaving the audience in splits.
