The streaming giant unveiled the official poster for the upcoming season on Thursday, which has left fans excited and curious. The first season of the South Korean survival drama, which premiered in 2021, became a global sensation and ended on a cliffhanger. Here's what the new poster reveals about Season 2.
Season 2 poster teases a bloody return
The newly-released Season 2 poster features a masked guard dragging a player's lifeless body across a vibrant, rainbow-colored circle. Other players can be seen observing the scene from a distance, their forms visible only as shadows. The familiar red and green uniforms of the guards and players indicate that little has changed in the game's setup. The chilling image is accompanied by the caption "The game will not stop," along with an enigmatic black box adorned with a pink ribbon.

'Squid Game' S02 to premiere in December
The much-anticipated second season is set to premiere on December 26. The new season will continue the story of Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), who emerged as the sole survivor of the deadly games. The first season concluded with Seong vowing to dismantle the games, setting up an intriguing premise for the upcoming installment. S02 poster suggests that the deadly games will continue unabated, despite the death of their creator, Oh Il-nam (played by O Yeong-su).
Season 2 to feature a star-studded cast
Along with Lee, the second season will feature a stellar cast including Kang Ha-neul, Im Siwan, Park Sung-hoon, and former BIGBANG member T.O.P. The upcoming season will reportedly consist of six episodes. Filming for the second and third seasons took place simultaneously, hinting at a smooth continuation of the story. Netflix is also set to release a special teaser for Squid Game Season 2 on Friday (September 20).
