Netflix films shouldn't be eligible for the Oscars: Steven Spielberg
Movie maverick Steven Spielberg has opined that Netflix movies should not be considered for the Academy Awards. The streaming-giant has started to make inroads into the Oscars as its 'Mudbound' had received four nominations at the 90th ceremony of the prestigious awards. The director also spoke at length about how TV is posing a threat to the big-screen cinema.

"I don't believe films that are just given token qualifications in a couple of theaters for less than a week should qualify for the Academy Award nomination," Spielberg quipped.

Meanwhile, Spielberg is currently immersed in the promotional activities of his next directorial venture 'Ready Player One'. Starring Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn among others, the film is slated to hit the screens on March 28. Post this, Spielberg will move on to the fifth installment of 'Indiana Jones'.
