'Cracked the story'—Sooraj Barjatya on 'age-appropriate' romantic drama with Salman
What's the story
Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya has spoken about his anticipated film with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
The film, reportedly initially titled Prem Ki Shaadi, was put on hold since the writing needed re-work.
The duo, known for their successful collaborations like Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), hasn't worked together for nearly a decade.
Narrative focus
Barjatya's focus on crafting an age-appropriate narrative for Khan
Barjatya stressed the need to craft an age-appropriate story for Khan (59) in their next.
He told Mid-Day, "The film has been pushed a little because, with Salman, I need a subject that is age-appropriate. The story has to fit him correctly; I cannot have him do [a film like] Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! again."
Barjatya, meanwhile, recently made his OTT debut with Bada Naam Karenge.
Upcoming projects
Barjatya's plans for another film before Khan's project
Barjatya also revealed his plans to make another film before moving on to Khan's project.
He said, "It's not fair to anyone. I have to showcase a love story that suits him. We have cracked the story. It is taking me some time. Before that, I'll make another story."
Speculation is rife that this other film may star Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari in the lead.
Barjatya will announce the new project next month.
