Turn back pages of history with 'Freedom at Midnight' trailer
SonyLIV has dropped the highly-anticipated trailer of its upcoming historical series, Freedom at Midnight. The show, which features Sidhant Gupta in the titular role of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, delves into India's fight for independence during its final phase. This was the time when the British divided India into two nations, India and Pakistan, leaving a deep scar on Hindu and Muslim communities. Here's a trailer breakdown.
'Freedom at Midnight' boasts a stellar creative team
The trailer begins with Clement Attlee—the then UK Prime Minister—formally announcing India's independence. It quickly introduces the pivotal figures in this historic moment—Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. The tone shifts dramatically as tensions escalate, depicting Jinnah's call for the creation of a separate country for Muslims. Meanwhile, British officials struggle with the complex process of partitioning India and Pakistan.
