When Sony uploaded entire feature-film on YouTube instead of trailer
The folks at the YouTube team of Sony Pictures must have gotten an earful from their bosses after they accidentally uploaded an entire feature film named 'Khali The Killer' on the video-sharing website. In a never heard before blunder, the production house, instead of sharing the trailer, ended up uploading the full 89 minutes and 46 seconds movie to its YouTube channel.
It took Sony eight hours to notice their mistake
'Khali The Killer' was live on YouTube for eight long hours till Sony Pictures finally realized the error and took it down. The actual plan was to upload its red-band trailer to promote the streaming and DVD versions. Notably, the film is available on a rental basis on YouTube itself. Written and directed by Jon Matthews, 'Khali The Killer' stars Richard Cabral in lead.
The uploading mishap invited some amusing remarks
Soon after the very many YouTubers spotted the mishap, they flooded the comments section with all sorts of remarks. One user wrote, "Another trailer that spoils the whole film", while another said, "Trailer gave the whole plot away. Pass." Someone observed, "It's just the trailer the whole movie will be 4 hours." The link, however, now leads to a blank video page.
An honest mistake or a marketing gimmick?
The entire episode certainly makes one wonder that how could such a big production commit such an absurd mistake. It then strikes one's mind that all this could be a well planned marketing gimmick to shine some light on the film.
