Sonu Nigam halts DTU concert after crowd hurls stones, bottles
What's the story
Sonu Nigam's performance at Delhi Technological University's (DTU) Engifest 2025 was halted abruptly after the crowd went out of control.
The event, which saw over one lakh students in attendance, turned chaotic when some people from the audience started throwing stones and bottles on the stage.
Annoyed by the unruly behavior, Nigam gently asked the audience to settle down.
As per social media posts, the majority seemed to have enjoyed the veteran's act though.
Plea
'I have come here for you...'
In an emotional address to the audience, Nigam said, "Main aapke liye aaya hun yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I'm not asking you to not enjoy, but please aisa na kariye (I have come here for you so that we can all have a good time. I'm not asking you to not enjoy, but please don't do this)."
Despite the disruption, the 51-year-old singer resumed his performance once order was restored.
Response
Student reactions to the concert disruption
Students were disappointed that the concert was disrupted.
A Daulat Ram College student called the incident "shameful," while Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University student Abhishek Ratra praised Nigam's calmness.
"Even in that moment, he remained humble and composed. Not once did he raise his voice," Ratra told Hindustan Times.
This comes on the heels of another unruly concert in Kolkata, where Nigam was seen pleading with an unruly audience to behave.
