Cancer survivor Sonali Bendre had only 30% chance of survival
When Sonali Bendre was diagnosed with a high-grade cancer last year, her world came to a standstill. However, she fought bravely with the deadly disease, and came out victorious becoming an inspiration for many. Sonali has now taken a short break from her treatment. She recently spoke about her cancer battle and revealed that she had only 30% chance of survival initially.
Sonali didn't want to go to New York for treatment
After Sonali came to know about her diagnosis, she was heartbroken. However, it was her husband Goldie Behl who didn't give up hope. In fact, he pushed Sonali to visit NY for treatment despite her denial. "I fought with him all through the flight. I was like let's speak to the doctors here and he was just quiet through the whole thing," she recalled.

Sonali said she was clueless about the gravity of her condition until she met the doctors in NY. It was then that she came to know that she was suffering from Stage 4 cancer and had only 30% chance of survival. "That really hit me. I turned to Goldie. I remember looking at him and saying thank god you got me here," Sonali said.
We were not told that it was fourth stage: Sonali
"Goldie always says that 'tomorrow I'd rather feel I over-reacted, over-spent than under-reacted.' There was no time for it and we were not told that it was the fourth stage but Goldie had started reading about it and he was suspecting it," Sonali mentioned.
Sonali embraces her 20-inch scar, her 'new normal,' from cancer-surgery
It wasn't an easy journey for the Sarfarosh actor, but she decided to share the tale of her battle with her fans. Recently she flaunted her 20-inch scar in front of the camera and called it her 'new normal,' winning accolades and our hearts. Sonali also shared the beautiful picture on Instagram and wrote, "ready to uncover my new reality."
