How Sonakshi-Zaheer's 'Tu Hai Meri Kiran' invited legal trouble
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's upcoming film, Tu Hai Meri Kiran, has landed in legal trouble over copyright infringement allegations. Adlabs, the complainant, claims that the movie infringes on the copyrights of two of their films. The company has filed a complaint with the Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC), urging Echelon Productions to disclose the script.
Adlabs seeks halt on third-party rights related to film
Adlabs has lodged a complaint against producer Vishal Rana and Echelon Productions, alleging that Tu Hai Meri Kiran infringes on the copyright of their original films Caller (2011) and Call (2019). The company has previously sent legal notices to Echelon and has now approached the IFTPC, reported ToI. They have requested Echelon to reveal the script and refrain from creating any third-party rights associated with the film.
Sinha, Iqbal's film wrapped up final schedule in June
Tu Hai Meri Kiran, directed by Karan Rawal, is a collaboration between Sinha and Iqbal after their last on-screen appearance together in Double XL. The actor-couple completed the film's final schedule in June, ahead of their wedding. Sinha's recent projects include Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi- The Diamond Bazaar and Reema Kagti-Zoya Akhtar's Dahaad, both of which received critical acclaim.
