FIR against Sonakshi Sinha for fraud of Rs. 37 lakh
Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha has landed herself in legal trouble after she was accused of cheating, criminal conspiracy and breach of trust by event organizer Pramod Sharma. According to media reports, Pramod alleged that Sonakshi didn't turn up for an event in Delhi on September 30, 2018, despite taking an advance payment. Consequently, he filed a complaint against her in Moradabad police station.
Sonakshi, paid Rs. 28L in advance, refused to attend event
In his complaint, Pramod alleged that he had contacted Sonakshi for an event to be held at Delhi's Siri Fort Auditorium on September 30 last year. She was supposed to distribute awards to make-up artists. Since the actress agreed for the same, he paid her Rs. 28 lakh in advance. However, despite the payment, Sonakshi refused to attend the event at the last moment.
Sonakshi had signed an MoU for the event
Pramod also claimed to have spent an additional Rs. 9 lakh for Sonakshi's accommodation and travel. He mentioned that the Dabangg actress had signed a memorandum of understanding for the event. However, on the day of the event, Sonakshi's team demanded a change in the timing of the event. Pramod refused to adhere to this demand, and then she refused to attend the show.
Pramod tried convincing Sonakshi, but in vain; audience vandalized venue
Shocked with Sonakshi's sudden change in decision, Pramod tried convincing her to come for the event. "I tried convincing her a lot to perform at the event and even told her that I'll incur huge losses if she doesn't come, but she refused to perform," he was quoted saying to ANI. Reportedly, miffed with Sonakshi's absence, the audience also vandalized the venue in retaliation.
Allegations against Sonakshi and her team are true: Cops
On the basis of Pramod's complaint, an FIR has been lodged against Sonakshi and her associates. The police also claimed that during the investigation, the allegations leveled against Sonakshi were found to be true. "The complainant had also produced a copy of MoU that was signed by Sonakshi," the official added. The police investigation is underway, but Sonakshi is yet to respond.
