'No issues': Sohum Shah refutes fallout rumors with 'Tumbbad' director
Actor-producer Sohum Shah has put to rest the rumors of a rift with director Rahi Anil Barve, stressing that their collaboration is still going strong, even though Barve has stepped away from Tumbbad 2. In a chat with India Today Digital, Shah said, "There are no issues at all." He also revealed that the script for Tumbbad 2 is locked, and production will kick off soon after the original film's successful re-release.
Shah and Barve's relationship remains strong despite director's exit
Shah emphasized that Barve continues to play a significant role in his life and projects. "Recently, we had a screening and Rahi was there. He was the one who designed Vinayak's [his character] look. Whenever we are making Tumbbad 2, and we need him, he will be there," Shah said. This statement comes after Barve announced his departure from Tumbbad 2 on Instagram, which sparked rumors of a fallout between the two.
Barve's future plans and well wishes for 'Tumbbad 2'
Even though he's no longer part of Tumbbad 2, Barve is still keen on penning a trilogy and plans to kick off work on the next chapter, Pahadpangira, next year. He also wished Shah and director Aadesh Prasad the best for carrying on the Tumbbad series.
Shah and Barve's friendship: From colleagues to close friends
Shah and Barve have come a long way from being just colleagues to becoming close pals. The actor-producer gives Barve a lot of credit for always pushing him to aim higher and take on lead roles. "He has instilled a significant level of confidence in me, contributing to our strong rapport," Shah shared about their bond.
'Tumbbad 2' production update and original film's success
Shah also shared some exciting news about Tumbbad 2, saying that the story's all set and production will kick off soon. But, he was told by the team to keep the details under wraps for now. This comes right after the successful re-release of Tumbbad, which has been doing great in theaters.
