'My girl...': Snoop Dogg recalls special bond with Queen Elizabeth
In a recent interview with UK radio station Capital FM, rapper Snoop Dogg expressed his affection for the late Queen Elizabeth II. The 52-year-old artist reminisced about the monarch during tea at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel in London. He referred to her as "my girl" and revealed his desire to visit Buckingham Palace, hoping his popularity among the royal family would grant him entry.
'Rest in peace to the Queen, that was my girl...'
Snoop Dogg, during an interview, humorously mentioned his intention to visit Buckingham Palace, saying, "I'll go by the palace, see if they let me in. Hopefully, I can get in." The artist then reminisced about Queen Elizabeth, saying, "Well, the Queen was a fan too. Rest in peace to the Queen, that was my girl. You know what I'm saying?" "So, just may want to go up and, you know, see what you do," he said.
Time when the late Queen prevented Snoop Dogg's deportation
Snoop Dogg aka Calvin Cordozar Broadus, has previously spoken about his special bond with the late Queen. During a 1994 UK tour, Broadus faced potential expulsion due to murder charges from 1993. However, he claims it was the Queen who intervened and prevented his deportation. She reportedly stated that her grandsons loved Snoop Dogg's music and he had done no wrong in the UK.
Rapper's relationship with King Charles, and royal princes
Broadus has also expressed affection for King Charles III and Prince William and Harry, considering them friends. In 2011, Prince Harry invited him to perform at Prince William's bachelor party, an invitation Broadus could not accept due to a prior commitment. He even created a song titled Wet as the anthem for Prince William's bachelor party in 2010. "Harry and William are my boys," Broadus told The Mirror in 2021.
