'Skater Girl' is set in a remote Rajasthan village
Manjari's feature directorial debut Skater Girl is a coming-of-age story about "confidence, courage, and the profound impact of blazing your trail." The cast includes Waheeda Rehman, Anurag Arora, Rachel Saanchita Gupta, Kamlesh Gill, Jonathan Readwin, and Amy Maghera. When London-bred advertising executive Jessica (Amy) arrives in the village, Prerna and the other local children are introduced to an exciting new adventure, thanks to Jessica and her old friend (Jonathan) who cruise into town on a skateboard. Their encounter with the teens ignites a small revolution in the village where the teens struggle with the village elders for their right to skate.
Music of the film has been composed by Salim-Sulaiman
"Determined to empower and encourage their newfound passion, Jessica sets out on an uphill battle to build the kids their own skatepark, leaving Prerna with a difficult choice between conforming to society's expectations of her and living out her dream of competing in the National Skateboarding Championship," the plotline reads. The music of the film is given by Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant.
