Ranveer Singh's 'Simmba' earns more than 'Padmaavat' on first day
After Shah Rukh Khan's Zero disappointed fans, moviegoers got a sigh of relief with the release of Ranveer Singh's Simmba. Viewers welcomed the movie with open arms and Simmba is all set to take over box-office. On its release day, Simmba witnessed a healthy start and will only go higher from here. The makers couldn't have asked for a better New Year's gift.
'Simmba' becomes Ranveer's biggest opener
Simmba witnessed a grand opening at the box-office with a collection of Rs. 20.72 crore. It has surpassed the first-day collection of Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Padmaavat, which earned Rs. 19 crore. Ranveer's roles of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat and that of a super cop in Simmba also speak volume about his versatility as an actor.
'Simmba' beats 'Padmaavat' to become Ranveer's biggest opener
Rohit found his perfect match in Ranveer
Rohit Shetty, who is known for his out-and-out masala entertainers, teamed up with Befikra Ranveer and the audience went gaga over the duo. Ranveer, whose energy is unmatched in Bollywood, was proud he became 'Rohit Shetty ka hero'. He was all praises for the director and said, "You know the way he's going to present you, nobody else can".
'Zero' failure becomes boon for 'Simmba'
Since Zero released just a week before Simmba, analysts expected a tough battle at the box office. But the SRK starrer failed to connect with masses and this proved beneficial for Ranveer, who has been declared a winner by trade analysts. Had Zero been a success, it would have been extremely difficult for Simmba to leave a mark. One's failure became another's gain!
Let's state the obvious: Ranveer is Bollywood's new king
This isn't the first time when Ranveer beat SRK at the box-office. The two actors clashed in December 2015 when SRK's Dilwale and Ranveer's Bajirao Mastani released together. Despite SRK's stardom, it was Ranveer who emerged victorious in the battle. Interestingly, Dilwale was helmed by Rohit Shetty, who gave Ranveer Simmba. Looking at Ranveer's career-graph in recent years, it's safe to say he is the new king of Bollywood.
