Siddique files complaint against Revathy Sampath over sexual assault allegations
Malayalam actor Siddique has lodged a police complaint against actor Revathy Sampath, who recently accused him of sexual misconduct, reported ANI. In his complaint to the Director General of Police, Siddique claimed that the allegations were part of a larger conspiracy. He also resigned as the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) following the accusations.
Siddique alleges criminal conspiracy behind accusations
Siddique, who is currently in Ooty, reportedly filed the complaint via email. He dismissed the allegations as a criminal conspiracy to spread false and scandalous accusations against him. The actor stated that he had only met Sampath on the day of a movie preview, in the presence of her parents. He also highlighted that no allegations of physical contact or rape were raised by her in her social media posts in 2019 and 2021.
Sampath accused Siddique of sexual misconduct
Sampath recently accused Siddique of sexual misconduct during a media interaction. She claimed that the incident occurred when she was 21 years old. According to Sampath, Siddique first approached her on Facebook, addressing her as "Mole," a term commonly used in Kerala to refer to a young girl or daughter. She said that Siddique sexually abused her during a discussion about a film.
'Siddique told me he's powerful, I could do nothing'
Sampath was quoted as saying, "After completing my Plus Two, I had a terrible experience. Siddique sent me messages on Facebook. I had come to discuss a film." "This incident occurred when I was 21 years old. He first approached me by calling me 'Mole.' There was abuse from Siddique's side. During the discussion, he sexually abused me."
Another actor recently alleged misconduct against Malayalam cine figure
Following the allegations, Siddique resigned as the general secretary of AMMA on Sunday. The vice president of the association, Jayan Cherthala, confirmed his resignation. This development comes in the wake of another recent incident where Malayalam director Ranjith was accused of misconduct by Bengali actor Sreelekha Mitra during the filming of Paleri Manikyam in 2009-10. Ranjith denied the allegations and maintained his innocence.
