Saif Ali Khan, Siddharth Anand begin shooting for 'Jewel Thief'
After nearly 17 years, actor Saif Ali Khan and director Siddharth Anand are set to collaborate again on an action-thriller titled Jewel Thief. The news of their reunion has been creating a buzz among fans since it was first reported. On Sunday night, Anand shared photos from the film's set in Budapest, Hungary on his Instagram account, revealing that the project has gone on floors and fueling the excitement among fans.
Anand recalled his previous collaborations with Khan
Anand's Instagram post featured him and Khan dressed in matching black T-shirts and denim pants. The director captioned his post: "Back on set with my first hero! How can nothing change! Haha! Love you Saif!" Anand has directed Khan in his directorial debut Salaam Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum and wrote his film, Hum Tum, thus making the Omkara actor his "first hero."
Fans now want a 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' sequel
Fans were quick to react to Anand's post, flooding the comments section with their responses. One fan wrote, "The best duo," while another commented, "All the best Sidd Sir the goat stylish action Director in India." Many fans also expressed their desire for a sequel to Ta Ra Rum Pum, which was released in 2007 and also starred Rani Mukerji and Javed Jaffrey. Though it didn't have the best commercial success, it remains a fan-favorite on social media.
'Jewel Thief' details and Netflix acquisition
Jewel Thief, directed by Robbie Grewal and produced by Anand's Marflix Pictures, is a heist thriller focusing on a "battle royale" between Jaideep Ahlawat and Khan. The film's title is inspired by Dev Anand's 1967 film of the same name, but, per reports, the new film has no connection to the original. Last year, it was revealed that Netflix acquired streaming rights for Jewel Thief for ₹60 crore. Currently, Khan is busy with his next, Devara.
