Revealed: Here's why Shraddha Kapoor left Saina Nehwal's biopic
In 2018, Shraddha Kapoor created buzz after she was roped in to play ace badminton player Saina Nehwal in her biopic. The actor also underwent grueling training for her role and fans were excited to see her in this never-seen-before avatar. However, much to our surprise, Shraddha recently walked out of the movie. Reportedly, she left the movie citing her busy schedule.
Shraddha had apparently kept the Saina Nehwal biopic on standby
According to a DNA report, Shraddha, who was associated with the project close to a year now, had put the movie on standby. Although she had worked quite hard for the role, the actress wasn't able to allot dates to director Amol Gupte. "Due to circumstances beyond her control, Shraddha kept giving other films priority over the national badminton champion's biopic," the report stated.
Post 'Stree' success, Shraddha has three big projects in kitty
Notably, after the massive success of her last release Stree, Shraddha's career has been on a roll. At the moment the 32-year-old has three big projects in her kitty including Street Dancer with Varun Dhawan, Saaho opposite Prabhas and Chhichhore with Sushant Singh Rajput.
She had been struggling to ace the sport, says source
Separately, some reports suggested that Shraddha was replaced in the movie as she couldn't match the pace of her character. "Even after being trained for more than a year, this actress failed to get the nuances of the character right. She had been struggling to ace the sport that she was training in, forcing the makers to reconsider her," a source was quoted saying.
Parineeti replaces Shraddha, film slated for early 2020 release
The film's producer Bhushan Kumar is keen to release the movie in early 2020. As a result, they decided to replace Shraddha with Parineeti Chopra. "We are glad Parineeti has come on board for the film. Saina has made every Indian proud and we can't wait to take her story to the world in the year of the Olympics," Bhushan had stated.
Excited to put in all the hard work, says Parineeti
Needless to say, Parineeti is over the moon happy with the opportunity as she always wanted to do a sports-based-movie. "I'm delighted to get an opportunity to portray a strong and powerful girl like Saina who put our country on the world map. I'm excited to put in all the hard work that comes with learning the game and portraying Saina on screen," she added.
Meanwhile, Parineeti is gearing up for 'Kesari' release, co-starring Akshay
Currently, Parineeti is looking forward to her first release of the year - Kesari. Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead, the movie is based on the Battle of Saragarhi that happened on 12 September 1897, and is slated to release on April 21 this year.
